The Town

A New Urbanist town, built to be walked

Celebration began as The Walt Disney Company's New Urbanist experiment, a master-planned town designed around front porches, rear alleys, parks within walking distance, and a brick-lined town center wrapped around Lake Rianhard. Its civic buildings were drawn by noted architects including Philip Johnson, Michael Graves, and Cesar Pelli, and the master plan came from Robert A.M. Stern with Cooper, Robertson & Partners. The result is a walkable, green, small-town setting in Osceola County, roughly 20 miles from downtown Orlando and only about 5 miles from the gates of Walt Disney World.

A Walkable Downtown on the Lake

Celebration's Town Center centers on Market Street and Front Street, overlooking Lake Rianhard, where storefronts, lakeside dining, and an interactive promenade fountain sit a short stroll apart. The dining runs from the Columbia Restaurant, the Spanish-Cuban institution that is Florida's oldest restaurant (since 1905), to wood-fired Italian at Reggiano's, Thai Thani, Ari Sushi, New England seafood at Celebration Town Tavern, and waterfront tables at Lakeside Kitchen & Bar. Mornings are easy with Fortuna Bakery & Coffee Bar and the retro Downtown Diner.

  • Fortuna Bakery & Coffee Bar, Imperium Food & Wine, Downtown Diner
  • Celebration Farmers Market every Sunday, 10am to 2pm, year-round, free entry

Outdoors, Trails, and the Lake Loop

Designed to be walked and biked, Celebration links its villages with over 10 miles of trails on asphalt, concrete, and wooden boardwalk, winding through conservation areas, ponds, and wetlands. At the heart of it is the easy 0.7-mile Lake Rianhard Loop, a flat paved-and-boardwalk circuit of about 12 minutes where egrets, ospreys, and turtles are a common sight. Lakeside Park adds a splash pad, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, and free outdoor pickleball, and the par-72 Celebration Golf Club, opened in 1996, rounds out the recreation.

  • Lake Rianhard Loop, 0.7 mi, paved and boardwalk, stroller-friendly
  • Over 10 miles of connected walking and biking trails
  • Lakeside Park: free pickleball (7am to 8:30pm), splash pad, tennis, basketball
  • Celebration Golf Club, 18 holes, par 72
